Six arrested for smuggling meth, other drugs
Chennai: Six people, including two software engineers, were arrested in separate incidents for smuggling and peddling methamphetamine and narcotic tablets.
The Nungambakkam police arrested three people from Valluvar Kottam tank area and seized 4.5g of methamphetamine. The accused were identified as Vinosh Anand, 32, Shakti Vasudevan, 34, and B Nitishkumar, 26. Police said Nitish and Vasudevan are employed in software companies, while Vinosh is a dance teacher. During interrogation, they said they bought the drug from Amith. They met Amith through a gay dating app. Police have launched a hunt for Amith, while the trio was remanded in Puzhal prison.
Meanwhile, police seized 10gm of methamphetamine from M Altaf, 27, from Sivananda Salai and arrested him. They also found six syringes and a weighing scale in his possession. In yet another incident, the Kodambakkam police seized 85 tablets from S Dhanushkumar, 19, and Ajay Fernandez, 19, from Trustpuram ground on Monday. All three were arrested.
