CHENNAI/VELLORE: Nalini Sriharan, lodged in the special prison for women in Vellore for her role in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination, had contacted her daughter Meghara, studying in London, her mother and brother in Chennai and her in-laws in Sri Lanka using the mobile phone that was recently seized from her cell.
Highly placed sources said the list of calls, obtained after a detailed examination of the phone, had showed that Nalini had not made any calls to LTTE members.

"The case is being handled by the Vellore district police now. Apart from the fact that a mobile phone was recovered from the prison cell of Nalini, there is no cause for concern. Our initial enquiries have revealed that she had been talking only to her relatives," a police official said.
TOI had reported on April 21 that calls made from the phone had been traced to London.
Meghara stays in London with her uncle, who is the brother of Nalini's husband Murugan. He has also been sentenced to death in the Rajiv assassination case and is lodged in the Vellore prison. Murugan's parents live in Sri Lanka.
"When we verified the overseas numbers, we came to know that the number belonged to Meghara in London," the official said.
