CHENNAI: For five days, the IIT Madras campus will be abuzz, not with quantum mechanics and the like. Instead, the debate is likely to be over the screenplay of Michael Madhana Kama Rajan', Hey Ram' and Dasavatharam'. And they may even get to exchange views with Kamal Hassan himself.
The star is part of an illustrious guest list of lecturers' scheduled to address students at the Chennai International Screenwriting Workshop between May 29 and June 23 at IIT Madras.
Akshaya Mahadevan, a first year Humanities student at IIT Madras who has opted for Introduction to film studies' as part of her course, said: "The seminar and workshop are interesting and Kamal is the added attraction." Many engineering students have chosen Introduction to film studies' as a compulsory elective subject.
"We will approach screenwriting from two angles," said director K Hariharan of L V Prasad Film and TV Academy. "How to turn words into images that you see on screen and how to do the opposite putting in words what you see as images in your mind. Every day, we will have two sessions of guest lectures by reputed writer-filmmakers," he added.
Jean Claude Carriere will participate via video conferencing, while other guest lecturers include Anjum Rajabali, professional screenwriter at the Film and TV Institute, Pune, and Atul Tiwari, a playwright and professional script writer.
