Crackers spark fires, damaging houses, bikes

Fires sparked by crackers damaged houses and vehicles at Anna Nagar and Villivakkam on Wednesday night.
At Kalaivanar Street in A n n a Nagar West , Shakthi was bursting crackers when a rocket went inside his house through the window. The fire later spread to the entire house where several goods were damaged.
Fire personnel rushed to the scene and put out the blaze.At Villivakkam, three motorbikes were damaged when miscreants burst firecrackers in the parking area.
The bikes belonged to Hari, Baskar and Murali, residents of an apartment at Damodra Perumal Colony.
Police scanned CCTV camera footage and found two miscreants scaling the compound wall and bursting firecrackers. This sparked a fire that spread to the vehicles parked in the area. They were also seen taking away the motorbikes.
“We are trying to establish the identity of the men.They came on foot so could be locals,“ said an investigating officer.
