Court grants divorce to actor Revathi

CHENNAI: A family court here has granted divorce to actor Revathi alias Asha Menon and her husband Suresh Chandra Menon.
A judicial separation order to this effect was issued by T C S Raja Chockalingam, additional family court-I judge, on Monday. "The marriage, solemnized between them is hereby dissolved by decree of divorce by mutual consent," read a brief order.
A divorce was by mutual consent is issued under Section 13(B) of the Hindu Marriage Act, said court sources, adding that the couple had been living separately for quite some time now.
Revathi, who was first introduced in the film 'Manvasanai' by ace film director Bharathiraja in 1983, has acted in more than 100 films in several languages. She has won three National Film Awards. Her husband Suresh Chandra Menon is a cinematographer as well as a film director. They acted together in a film, 'Puthiya Mugam'.
