10 arrested for plotting to attack Seeman

Chennai: Chennai police rounded up and arrested 10 workers of Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam (TPDK) from a lodge in Royapettah as they were planning to attack the Naam Tamilar Katchi state coordinator Seeman for his remarks against Periyar. Police seized two bikes, some pamphlets, and three country-made bombs from their rooms.
Based on a tip off, a police team checked a lodge on SBS First Street in Royapettah and found 10 people staying in a couple of rooms in the lodge. While examining the ledger, the cops found the rooms were booked in the name of one Tinker Kumaran of Ice House.
Inquiries revealed that Kumaran is the Chennai district office-bearer of the TPDK party. Inquiry revealed that the suspects were planning to hurl the country-made bombs at Seeman's residence. All the 10 were remanded in judicial custody. Police have also stepped up security near Seeman's residence.
