Rajyavardhan Rathore refuses flat by developer
New Delhi: Newly-appointed sports minister Rajyavardhan Rathore informed the Supreme Court on Monday that he has refused to take possession of a defective flat offered to him by Parsvnath Developers and agreed to take refund of the money he had paid in 2005.
Rathore had paid Rs 75 lakh in 2005 for a flat in Parsvnath’s ‘Exotica’ project in Gurgaon. The developer had assured that the flat would be handed over by October 2009 but failed to do so, forcing Rathore to initiate legal action in the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC).

The commission directed the company to give the flat to Rathore within eight months. It also asked the company to pay compensation to him for delay in handing over the flat. Parsvnath had challenged the NCDRC order in the SC.
Factoring in the interest component and the fact that Rathore had paid the money more than a decade ago, he will get back about Rs 3 crore. tnn
