Kala Kendra pays tribute to its founder on his 83rd birthday

Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh organized a special programme "Soulful Musical Concert" wherein a group of artists led by inimitable Punjabi sufi and pop singer paid rich musical tributes to ML Koser, Founder of the Kendra on his 83rd birth anniversary. The programme took place at Tagore Theatre in Sector 18.

CHANDIGARH: Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh organized a special programme "Soulful Musical Concert" wherein a group of artists led by inimitable Punjabi sufi and pop singer paid rich musical tributes to ML Koser, Founder of the Kendra on his 83rd birth anniversary. The programme took place at Tagore Theatre in Sector 18.
Belonging to a family of musicians, Sardool Sikander has a distinctive style of singing which is a blend of Sufi gayaki and recitation, reflecting his training in classical music under master exponents like Ustad Charanjit Ahuja and others.

His father was not only great tabla player but also a versatile singer too
Sardool commenced with Shah Husain's composition "Rabba mere haan da mehram", an invocatory piece followed by melodious vehre aa vad mere" by Great Bulle Shah. The presentation was a perfect amalgam of classicism, poetic elegance and pulsating rhythmic patterns.
Sardool mesmerized the audience when recited some other favourite compositions of renowned poets including Shiv Kumar Batalvi's "Kaun mere shaher" and on persistent demand of the audience, Sardool doled out some of his popular Punjabi songs like "ek charkha gali de vich dah liya" etc.
The Kendra Registrar Shobha Koser honored the artists.
