Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana high court on Monday issued notice to the Haryana government seeking reply on the plea filed by senior Indian National Lokdal (INLD) leader and Ellenabad MLA Abhay Chautala seeking adequate security cover to him through the central/state security agency in view of the recent threat call received by him.
When the matter came up for hearing before Justice Vikas Bahl, Abhay’s counsels, senior advocate Ashok Aggarwal and Sandeep Goyat informed that initially four additional cops were provided to the MLA after he received the threat.
However, the same was withdrawn after two days.
On this, Justice Bahl asked the state government to file a detailed reply on Abhay’s contention regarding threat perception and the action taken by the state government by August 10.
In his main plea, Abhay has stated that on June 15, some persons from the ruling party in Haryana had held a press conference in Sirsa district and threatened that if the petitioner did not stop raising his voice against drug peddlers and liquor mafia then he must be ready to face the consequences.
A complaint was also given to the state police in this regard.
