Bhopal/Jabalpur: A sessions court in
Jabalpur refused to grant bail to a man accused of defrauding 30 people of lakh of rupees by signing sale deeds of the land, which belonged to someone else.
The accused, Omprakash Anand, in his bail application filed in the court of additional district and sessions judge, Brijesh Singh, said that he has been under judicial custody since Aug 5.
He also produced medical documents to show that he is not keeping well to support his argument for bail.
The public prosecutor, on the other hand, argued that Anand had been absconding for a long time and the police caught hold of him after a lot of hard work. Besides, he may influence the witnesses if he is released on bail.
Appearing for the people allegedly cheated by the accused, advocate Vijay Tiwari opposed the bail and said that Madhotal police had registered a case against the accused on a complaint, but soon 29 more people lodged a complaint against him, accusing Anand of robbing them of lakhs of rupees by providing them plots on the land which didn't belong to him.
After hearing all the sides, the court refused to give bail to the accused.
