Bengaluru: State police Sunday held the second edition of a run in collaboration with the State Bank of India (SBI) under the banner ‘Namma Police, Namma Hemme'.
The event aimed to adopt a citizen-centric approach and spread awareness about important issues such as cybercrime and drug menace.
The run took place in Bengaluru and across all districts in the state. Home minister G Parameshwara flagged off the run in front of Vidhana Soudha in the state capital.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from police officers, SBI staff and the general public. Over 20,000 people took part in the event in Bengaluru and around 1 lakh across the state. Mysuru and Hubli-Dharwad saw the largest number of participants after Bengaluru.
The run featured performances by police bands along the routes. Participants also had the opportunity to take pictures with police personnel and police horses.
Winners
A total cash prize of Rs 17.2 lakh was awarded to the winners. Parameshwara announced a special reward of Rs 1 lakh for the winners in the 10k police (male) category, and the DG&IGP announced a similar amount for the best female runner in the 10k section.
