BANGALORE: The function was scheduled to begin at 4pm. However, villagers were made to wait for nearly two hours for the chief minister. Rathnamma of Ganigeripalya said she was tired of watching the CM on television. I have been waiting for 2 hours. Now I will see the ministers and go back." It was
Shobha Karandlaje who pacified the crowd saying the CM was very busy but still made time to come.
The Urban Tree Project at Turahalli in Kaggalipura will be developed at a cost of Rs five crore. In his speech, the CM said that the project was a step towards combating global warming. "With increased urbanisation and industrialisation, the forest area is dwindling. Of the 2.17 lakh hectres of land forming Bangalore, only 4,200 hectres of land is forest area. We need to grow trees instead of converting the city to concrete jungle. So we are encouraging forest and irrigation across the state," he said.
