Ahmedabad: The District Education Officer (DEO) has mandated all educational institutions from pre-primary to Class 8 to conclude their daily operations by noon, considering the rising temperatures. The directive instructs schools to restrict academic activities to morning hours.
The DEO's directive prohibits outdoor classes during summer. These regulations align with the Gujarat Heatwave Action Plan 2025, following earlier instructions from the relief commissioner's office and revenue department regarding heatwave preparedness.Schools under the education department's authority have been directed to strictly adhere to these guidelines.
DEO Rohit Chaudhary has also directed schools to educate students about heatwave safety measures. Officials stated that institutions will be regularly monitored to ensure compliance.
The modified schedule will continue until annual examinations conclude.
