AHMEDABAD: The state government on Friday informed Gujarat high court that instead of four cameras, it would equip each police station across the state with eight cameras. The project to equip police stations with CCTV cameras is underway after an order passed by the high court on November 8 last year following a PIL filed by
Prakash Kapadia and his NGO Jagega Gujarat.
The government told the court that it is yet to install cameras in 150 police stations. The court was informed that a committee was set up to look into the requirement and upon its recommendations, it was decided to install eight cameras in each police station. The government had finished work in 194 police stations by August but the process had not started in 340 police stations.
