Agra: A court in Agra sentenced a 25-year-old man to life in jail for kidnapping and murdering a seven-year-old boy in 2019 after the child broke his mobile phone.
On Sept 1, that year, when the seven-year-old went missing from his house, his father filed a complaint at Saiyyan police station the same day. On Sept 13, the boy's remains were found in a secluded farm in Agra district.
Govt counsel Basant Gupta said, "The accused,
Anil Singh, was employed by the child's father as a domestic help. After the incident, he went into hiding. On Sept 13, he was apprehended, and upon his identification, the child's garments were retrieved from a farm and police then found the decomposed remains. An FIR under IPC sections of abduction and murder was registered."
During the investigation, police found out that Singh had killed the boy after he purportedly damaged his mobile phone.
The court of judge Vivek Sangal after taking into consideration the evidence and testimonies of witnesses, found the accused guilty and delivered the sentence on Monday. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on the convict.
