Agartala: Following the electrification of railway lines extending to Tripura through southern Assam, NFR is prioritising the launch of Vande Bharat Express to connect Agartala and Silchar, Tripura’s Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee said Thursday.
Bhattacharjee, who leads the state’s BJP unit, confirmed that the infrastructure for operating Vande Bharat Express trains to Silchar and Agartala is nearly complete, with minor works pending completion shortly. The service is expected to commence operations from Guwahati to Agartala and Silchar early next year.
“PM Narendra Modi always gives priority to the development of NE states and Vande Bharat Express is one of his dream projects for the region. Initially, Assam and Tripura became the frontrunner because of infrastructure,” Bhattacharjee said, adding that the PM dedicated 18 Jan Aushadhi Kendras at various railway stations nationwide, including Agartala, on Wednesday.
