Agartala: Tipra Motha , an ally of the BJP-led govt in Tripura, will submit a deputation to governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu on Thursday demanding speedy implementation of the Tiprasa Accord.
Tipra Motha signed an MoU with the Centre and the Tripura govt on March 2 to address the issues faced by the state's indigenous people.
Speaking to the media here Sunday, Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma said, “We had a meeting with party leaders and frontal organisations today and decided to send a deputation to Reddy through BDOs on Nov 14 for the speedy implementation of the Tiprasa Accord.”
The first meeting on the Tiprasa Accord was held in Delhi on Sept 21, where it was agreed that follow-up meetings would take place every two months to advance the agreement.
However, Pradyot emphasised that there is no clear timeline for the implementation of the accord, similar to the Naga peace talks or the TNV (Tripura National Volunteers) accords.
He said, “I will continue to negotiate with the Centre for the rights of the indigenous people. If the Govt of India accepts 90% of our demands, we will leave the remaining 10%. We are fighting for the rights of indigenous people but not at the expense of others. We demand 25 seats to be reserved for the indigenous people out of the 60 in the assembly.”pti
