CM Mamata Banerjee condemned BJP's Suvendu Adhikari for his divisive comments against Muslim MLAs and criticized the BJP's 'fake Hindutva'. Banerjee emphasized inclusive and progressive Hinduism and denounced religion-based divisiveness. She stressed the importance of protecting minority rights and maintaining secularism, warning against spreading hatred and communal tensions ahead of the 2026 assembly polls.

Maa Kali Puja, also known as Kali Puja, is performed on the Amavasi day of the Aashin month according to the Bengali calendar. It also coincides with Diwali night.
