Police called after Minecraft warning issued at UK cinema hall as TikTokers run riot

A TikTok trend about the latest movie based on the Minecraft game, “A Minecraft Movie,” has become the center of cinema disturbances, a report claims. This “disruptive trend” has reportedly prompted warnings from UK theaters as well as police intervention in the US. The film, starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa, is experiencing a wave of disruptive behaviour during screenings, which has been largely attributed to this TikTok trend, the report adds.
According to a report by The Independent, REEL cinema in Fareham has issued a warning to its patrons, following similar problems at a Cineworld in Glasgow. In one US cinema, the situation escalated to the point where police were called to manage the unruly audience. Despite its box office success, the movie's cultural impact, especially among younger viewers, is contributing to the chaos, the report notes.

The viral TikTok trend that is causing chaos during screenings of A Minecraft Movie stems from young fans mimicking scenes from the film in real time. The trend involves audiences throwing popcorn, shouting, or cheering when familiar moments from the trailer play out on screen.
One particular scene—where Jack Black’s character yells “Chicken jockey!” during a boxing ring encounter with a cuboid chicken—has become a fan-favorite cue, the report adds.
As per the report, videos shared online show packed cinemas erupting with chants and applause during the scene, fueling concerns among theatre staff and prompting warnings at some UK venues.
In a statement to UK publication Daily Echo, a spokesperson for the Fareham cinema said: “To ensure everyone has the best possible cinema experience, we're increasing our monitoring of screens during performances. Disruptive behaviour, including taking part in TikTok trends, before, during, or after a screening will not be tolerated. Anyone causing disruption will be asked to leave, and where necessary, the police will be called.”
The report also highlighted that social media users have reported witnessing or joining disruptive outbursts during A Minecraft Movie screenings. Meanwhile, some cinema staff took to TikTok to request audiences to avoid creating chaos and mess during screenings.
