Meghan Markle on not allowing Netflix to shoot in her house: ‘80 people in the kitchen isn’t really…’

Meghan Markle has explained why she declined Netflix’s request to film “With Love, Meghan” in her own Montecito house kitchen. Instead, she had Netflix set up production in a neighbouring farmhouse reportedly owned by her friends Tom and Sherrie Cipolla. In the series, the Duchess of Sussex can be seen baking treats, planning parties, hosting brunches and guiding viewers through home-style living from the Cipollas’ California property. Markle said that by choosing a friend’s home over her private residence, she safeguarded her family’s privacy while sharing her favourite lifestyle tips on screen.

During a conversation with Time CEO Jessica Sibley at the Time100 Summit in New York, Meghan explained that she didn’t allow Netflix to shoot inside her own home for her kids' privacy. She and Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, have two children, Archie (aged 5) and Lilibet (aged 3).
Referencing the series’ huge crew, Meghan said: “When people say, ‘Why didn’t you [film in] your house?’ Well, I have kids coming home for their nap, and 80 people in the kitchen isn’t really the childhood memory I’d want for them to have.”
“We were really fortunate to find something close by,” Meghan noted, adding that setting those boundaries for her family is “how I take care of myself.”
According to a report by Page Six, the Netflix show “With Love, Meghan” was filmed at an $8 million Montecito farmhouse owned by philanthropists Tom and Sherrie Cipolla.
After its March debut, the series has been approved for a second season. Production on which has already wrapped and is expected to return this fall.
At the summit, Meghan even teased that World Central Kitchen founder José Andrés will make a guest appearance in Season 2.
Earlier this year, she and Harry teamed up with Andrés to deliver food and supplies to victims of the devastating Los Angeles wildfires.
