Lord Rama's birthday or Ram Navami marks the end of Chaitra Navratri on the ninth day of the celebration. Chaitra Navratri marks the new beginning of the spring season. Devotees get involved in puja, fasting, introspection, and take part in night vigils. Each day of Navratri represents the each form of Maa Durga and devotees honor them in order to seek blessings and to get happiness in their life.

Chaitra Navratri 2025: Puja Rituals

Chaitra Navratri is a time when devotees fast for nine consecutive days, present special food offerings, and pray to the Goddess Durga. It honors a different deity each day. There are customs and puja rituals connected to each day of Chaitra Navratri. Ghatasthapana, the ceremonial placement of a Kalash signifying the goddess's presence, is performed on the first day of Navratri. On Ashtami, the eighth day of Navratri, devotees do a special puja for young girls. Young girls are symbolic of the deity taking the form of a young girl.
In Chaitra Navratri, Ram Navami, the ninth and final day, commemorates the birthdate of Lord Rama, a manifestation of Lord Vishnu. Devotees take out processions, do bhajans, perform fasting, and offer special prayers on this day to invoke the blessings of Lord Rama.
