John Cena returned to WWE RAW as a heel, but there was no new theme song or presentation change that the fans could see.
The wrestling fans had been waiting to see John Cena make his return to WWE television programming ever since he turned heel at the 2025 Elimination Chamber PLE. The wait was finally over as Cena made his comeback on the March 17th, 2025, episode of Monday Night RAW taking place in the Forest National in Brussels, Belgium.
However, unlike what the fans expected, John Cena came out exactly as he did during his babyface run. He had the same jorts, cap, t-shirt, and even the same entrance music. This was a major disappointment for the fans who were expecting a new version of Cena after he turned heel. While Cena made it clear that the fans would not be getting what they wanted, here are the three possible reasons why Cena did not have a new presentation for his heel character:

3. Triple H continuing to make his booking unpredictable

The current regime of WWE is led by CCO Paul "Triple H" Levesque. Unlike the previous management, Triple H has been throwing major curve balls at the fans with his unpredictability. From Jey Uso's unexpected Royal Rumble win to John Cena turning heel, everything Triple H has done has been the opposite of what fans expected. John Cena maintaining his babyface presentation even during his heel run is just another example of the same, and Hunter might believe that Cena can do wonders even while retaining his Superman personality.

2 John Cena not choosing to mimic mega stars who turned heel before him

Before John Cena, there have been other mega stars who turned heel to send shockwaves across the wrestling landscape. One of them was Hulk Hogan. However, Hogan dropped his yellow and red colors to don the nWo's black and white and become 'Hollywood' Hulk Hogan. However, Cena might have had a different vision for his heel character. He might have not chose to mimic the same path Hogan took as 'Hollywood' Hulk Hogan in WCW and carve out his own creative run as a heel character.

1 He is a natural when it comes to garnering reactions

John Cena's heel promo on Monday Night RAW proved that he did not need a presentation change to garner loud reactions from the audience. The fans showered loud boos the minute Cena entered the building. It continued as Cena vent out his anger towards the fans for the abusive treatment they gave him for 25 years. Even when Cena was exiting the ring, fans sang goodbye to him. This proved that Cena's mere presence is enough to become a prime heel and needed no presentation to be changed.
