Ganga Saptami 2025: One of the most revered Hindu festival is Ganga Saptami, which is purely dedicated to Goddess Ganga. On this auspicious devotees worship Goddess Ganga with utmost devotion. Ganga Saptami is also known as Ganga Jayanti, people commemorate the Goddess Ganga's rebirth. According to the Panchang, the celebration of Ganga Saptami takes place on Saptami Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Vaishakha. Ganga Saptami holds a great religious and spiritual significance among Hindus. Ganga Saptami is a very important festival in Hinduism. The Goddess Ganga is honored on this day. According to Hindu Scriptures, it is believed that on this auspicious day, the goddess Ganga took a rebirth. Sacred water is the manifestation of the goddess Ganga on earth. Devotees call her as Maa Ganga and seek blessings. The sage Jahnu is believed to have consumed all of the Ganga water, when the Goddess Ganga descended on Earth on Ganga Dussehra.
Ganga is the most venerated river of the country. Goddess Ganga, is also believed to have therapeutic qualities. Devotees from across the nation flock to locations with Ganga Ghats to take a sacred bath in the Ganga water. Because Ganga water is so clean and pious that it eliminates all negativity and purifies your body, mind, and soul, people who take a holy plunge in it are absolved of their previous sins. The reason this day is also known as Jahnu Saptami is because all the gods and deities, along with Bhagirath, asked Jahnu Rishi to release the Ganga. He granted their request and freed the Goddess Ganga and she came on on earth on the day of Ganga Saptami. There are several names for Maa Ganga, including Jahnvi, Vishnupadi, Gange, and Bhagirathi.

3. Since Shivling abhishekam is believed to be beneficial, many devotees perform it by using Ganga water.

7. At different Ganga Ghats, special Aarti is conducted in the evening.
