Box Office Face-Off: ‘Raid 2’ vs ‘Retro’ and ‘HIT 3’Though ‘Raid 2’ did well on day one, it’s not the only film pulling in crowds. Two other major action thrillers released on the same day — Suriya’s ‘Retro’ and Nani’s ‘HIT: The Third Case’. According to Sacnilk, ‘Retro’ slightly edged out ‘Raid 2’ by earning Rs. 19.25 crore on its first day. Meanwhile, ‘HIT 3’ was not far behind either, collecting Rs. 18 crore. All three films are targeting fans of intense action and gripping storylines, which has led to a packed and competitive box office. The real test for these films will be the weekend. Whichever movie keeps its momentum going could emerge as the winner.
‘Bhootnii’ Barely SurvivesSanjay Dutt’s horror-comedy ‘Bhootnii’ also released alongside these big films, but didn’t make much of a mark. According to early estimates, the film earned only Rs. 65 lakh on its first day.
With a head start of Rs. 18.25 crore, ‘Raid 2’ is well-placed to make a strong weekend collection. However, its real challenge lies in staying ahead of ‘Retro’ and ‘HIT 3’, which are currently neck and neck in box office numbers.
'Raid 2' Movie review:The Times of India gave 'Raid 2' 3/5 stars, the review reads, " Relentless Patnaik (Devgn) is a thorn in the lives of the corrupt. He is the party pooper of the privileged who think they can evade law and hence, the chemistry and conflict that unravel once he goes digging has a comic-thrilling element to it. One does not expect efficiency or honesty from public servants let alone heroism and hence the anomaly makes for an interesting watch.."
