Woman with a rare disease that causes vertigo switches to Tesla car, says, she felt ‘peace and security’; Elon Musk reacts
Amidst vandalism and hate campaigns brewing against Elon Musk’s Tesla, a man talks about how his wife, who struggles with Ménière’s disease, has replaced her 2004 Toyota 4Runner with a new Tesla Model 3 with Full Self-Driving and feels safer than ever.
Tesla investor Sawyer Merritt revealed that one of his followers, who finds driving 'nerve-wracking' switched to Tesla, for obvious reasons.
The woman with the Ménière's disease, a rare inner ear condition that affects her balance and hearing has had severe flare-ups in the past few months, where she can get dizzy in an instant, according to her husband Kevin. “She'll be fine one second, then the next her world is spinning. Our biggest fear has always been - What happens if it hits while she's driving? What if our two children are with her?” Kevin said.

The couple planned and rehearsed a supposed possibility of what to do in such a critical moment, however, the struggle was real. “Sounds easy, but imagine doing this while your world spinning with zero sense of balance,” the husband said.
But as her disease progressed, she became nervous to drive, and that’s when the family decided to replace their old 2004 Toyota 4Runner with a new Model 3 with Full Self-Driving. The couple are taken away by the marvel of Tesla’s technology, “We have spent the past couple days getting comfortable with FSD, learning how to use and activate it. With a single press of a button on the steering wheel - the car instantly takes over the driving. This technology is MAGIC!”

Kevin also recalled a moment, when his wife returned after dropping their 9-year-old child to school. She was in ‘tears’ and ‘overwhelmed’. “I can't even express to you the sense of peace and security I feel now while driving that I haven't felt in 20 years,” the woman said.

Elon Musk was absolutely delighted with the response of the consumer and shared the heartwarming story on his social media handle. The netizens too felt it was a heartwarming incident. One X user shared how the Tesla car helped them. “This is so awesome. I was thinking about this before in my own case. My eyes aren't what they used to be and driving at night is a little harder for me. With FSD I am much more confident going out on the roads at night. This will only be a better benefit to me as I get older and older,” an X user wrote. While many agreed with the smart technology of Tesla cars, a few also expressed their concerns on how Full Self Driving cars would kill man’s skill to drive. “The only downside is we are going to create a generation who cannot drive themselves.”
