Grand opening of BHU’s youth fest ‘Sanskriti 2025’
Varanasi: The Faculty of Arts at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) witnessed the grand opening of the annual youth festival "Sanskriti 2025" on Sunday. This four-day festival is being held from February 23 to 26 at various locations within the Faculty of Arts.
The opening ceremony was attended by former VC of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow, Prof. P.K. Mishra, Director of the Institute of Management, professor Ashish Bajpai, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, professor Maya Shankar Pandey, and others.
Student coordinator Badal Singh Raj, in his welcome speech, mentioned that under Sanskriti 2025 (Shiv Mahotsav), a total of 39 different competitions are being organised. The student advisor, Vinayak Dubey, presented a pre-report, stating that over 700 students from the Faculty of Arts are participating in various competitions, and the winners will showcase their talents at the university-level ‘Spandan' inter-university youth festival.
Professor P K Mishra shared his life experiences to inspire the students and highlighted the importance of such events. Professor Ashish Bajpai said that he also participated in similar competitions during his student life, which contributed to his personality development and ease of communication today. He emphasised the importance of holistic development alongside education. Dean of the Faculty of Arts, professor Maya Shankar Pandey, stated that such programs will continue to be organised at the faculty level, and it is a matter of joy that such a large number of students are participating in ‘Sanskriti 2025.'
With the official inauguration, the competitions commenced with sitar playing, tabla playing, classical singing (group and solo), Sanskrit essay writing, Sanskrit debates, drama, collage, and sketching. In the coming days, competitions like debates, speeches, expressions, mime, rangoli, mehndi, and Western music (group and solo) will also be held. The students of the faculty participated enthusiastically in the festival and showcased their exceptional talent.
