8 Maha Kumbh pilgrims killed in two road accidents in Uttar Pradesh

In an unfortunate series of accidents in Jaunpur, at least eight pilgrims lost their lives and 32 were injured. An SUV carrying Maha Kumbh pilgrims from Jharkhand was struck by an unidentified vehicle, and a bus carrying Delhi pilgrims collided with a stationary truck. Efforts to mark black spots and increase police presence are underway.

These incidents occurred early Wednesday involving an SUV and a bus. Authorities are increasing police presence by designating Badlapur as a black spot following these accidents.
VARANASI: At least five pilgrims from Jharkhand were killed and five others suffered injuries when a SUV was hit by some vehicle on Sultanpur road in Badlapur area while a bus also collided with a stationary truck in same area of Jaunpur in which three pilgrims of Delhi were killed 27 suffered injuries on Wednesday late night.
After taking stock of accident sites and condition of injured persons Jaunpur SP Kaustubh said that a SUV (JH02 AX 1652) with 11 Maha Kumbh pilgrims on board was passing through Sarokhanpur underpass under Badlapur police station area around 1.30 am when some vehicle hit it and fled the scene.
Of them five including three woman and a child were killed on the way to hospital. Six injured persons were being treated at district hospital.
At 3 am a bus (HR67 C 6900) with pilgrims from Delhi in board collided with a stationary truck in same area. Apart from driver and two pilgrims were killed in this incident while 27 others suffered injuries. They all were referred to district hospital.
SP said that by declaring black spots extra police deployment was being insured in the areas of Badlapur. Road has been cleared after removing damaged vehicles.
