MANGALURU: City police here have booked a case against 19 persons and arrested 15 of them for lynching an unidentified man near Bhatra Kallurti Temple in Kudupu on Sunday.
Sharing details about the crime, home minister G Parameshwara said Tuesday, a man was lynched by a mob near Kudupu after he allegedly shouted "Pakistan zindabad" during a local cricket match. Sources said over 25 were involved in the attack.

Police said efforts were on to trace the remaining suspects. It is believed that more than 25 were involved in the brutal attack.
"Some people got together and beat him up. The victim later died," the minister said, adding that the probe is on. He appealed to the public to maintain peace and harmony.

Mangaluru City Police commissioner Anupam Agrawal said rural police received information about the body of an unidentified man, aged around 40, being found around 5.30 pm on Monday.
Investigation revealed that around 3 pm on Sunday, during a cricket match near Bhatra Kallurti Temple, this man was assaulted by a group of individuals. Although some bystanders tried to intervene, the group continued to assault him, leading to his death.
According to the police officer, the victim initially had an argument with Sachin, an autorickshaw driver, following which, the latter assaulted him. Sachin was then joined by the others, who beat up the victim with sticks and kicked him around.
A case of unnatural death (UDR) was registered at Mangaluru Rural police station, and a postmortem was conducted, the commiossioner said.
The photograph of the body was also widely circulated to establish his identity. Based on CCTV footage and mobile tower location, police have interrogated witnesses and some of the suspects. Later, a complaint was filed by Deepak Kumar, a resident of Kulasekhara Chowki, against 19 suspects, and a case was registered under multiple sections of BNS.
The police officer also said information regarding the alleged involvement of the husband of a former corporator in the incident was also being verified.
Those arrested are: Sachin T, 26; Devadas, 50; Manjunath, 32, all residents of Kudpadu, in Thiruvail Village; Saideep, 29, from Neermarga; Nitesh Kumar alias Santosh, 33, from Mangala Nagar in Kudpadu; Dheekshith Kumar, 32, from Kudupu Katte; Sandeep, 23, from Devarapadavu, Vamanjoor; Vivian Alvares, 41, from Kudpadu; Sridatta, 32, from Kudupukatte, Kudpadu; Rahul, 23, from Kadri Kaibattalu; Pradeep Kumar, 35, from Kulasekhar, Kudpadu; Manish Shetty, 21, from Shaktinagar; Dhanush, 31, from Nekkare Road, Kudupukatte; Dheekshith, 27, from Kulasekhar, Kudpadu; and Kishore Kumar, 37, from near Kudupu Temple.
