UP SC/STpanel orders inquiry into SP’s Ambedkar poster

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) Commission on Wednesday took suo moto cognizance of a controversial poster put up outside the Samajwadi Party office in Lucknow where half of the face of Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav was juxtaposed with that of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar.
Chairman of the commission, Baijnath Rawat, directed the Lucknow police commissioner to investigate the matter and take action against those guilty after registering a case under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The chairman directed the police to submit the report by May 5.
"The poster put up by the Samajwadi Lohia Vahini is not only an insult to the SC/ST community but it is a conspiracy of the Samajwadi Party to humiliate a noble man like Dr BR Ambedkar," said Rawat.
