Kapil Dev’s praise for UP Police HQ inspires us, says Akhilesh
Lucknow: A day after veteran cricketer Kapil Dev described the Uttar Pradesh Police headquarters in Lucknow as a complex better than any corporate office building, Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav said since the world-class UP Police headquarters was built during the SP government, such words of appreciation from the cricketing icon have come as a major inspiration and encouragement.
Talking to the media after his visit to the UP Police headquarters the former Indian skipper was talking to the media when he said how he was praising the palatial office that houses the UP Police headquarters. Kapil said during his discussion with the DGP he had complimented on modern amenities at the police headquarters. "I told Kumar Sahab (DGP Prashant Kumar) … that this office looks grander than a corporate office …," Kapil said. Akhilesh posted this clip of Kapil Dev on his X account.
"Every work that was done during the Samajwadi party government, was world class and is an example for the state and the country. Today when these projects are appreciated, it feels very satisfying. Legendary cricketer Kapil Dev has appreciated the world-class Police headquarters. His appreciation has come as a major inspiration and encouragement for us," Akhilesh said on Saturday.
The former UP CM also issued a statement where he listed the development projects that came up during his stint as the chief minister of UP. "During the SP government, a cricket stadium of international standards, a signature building equipped with modern amenities to house police headquarters, Asia's biggest park by the name of Janeshwar Mishra Park, world-class Gomti Riverfront and Metro rail were constructed," he said.
"Lucknow-Agra expressway of international standards was also constructed during this period which was the country's first expressway to have an airstrip for fighter jets and military aircraft. When the expressway was inaugurated, the country's best fighter jets like Sukhoi and Mirage along with the Hercules aircraft took part in an airshow where they exhibited ‘touch and go' manoeuvres on the expressway," the SP chief said.
Akhilesh condemns attack on Tikait
Lucknow: Condemning the attack on farm leader and national spokesperson of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) Rakesh Tikait, Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday said "tossing the turban" off the farmer leader was an insult to all farmers in India. He said this attack on Rakesh Tikait was also an attack on the lifelong struggles of Chaudhary Charan Singh as well. Rakesh Tikait was manhandled during Jan Akrosh Rally organized against the Pahalgam terror attack in Muzaffarnagar on Friday during which his turban was tossed off.
