HYDERABAD: A hardware store owner, Ashish, has been arrested for allegedly killing three six-day-old puppies in Macha Bolarum. The incident occurred late on Monday night, and the apartment residents approached the Alwal police the next day. Police registered a case on Wednesday after some delay. After speaking to Ashish on Wednesday, he was arrested on Thursday.
Around 2am on Tuesday, Ashish went to the cellar and killed the three puppies by trampling them, striking them against the wall, and attacking them with bricks. The newborn puppies were yet to open their eyes when they were alive, police said.
"One of the residents, who feeds the dogs, went in search of the puppies and found them lying on the floor in a pool of blood. He immediately alerted the security guard, and when the CCTV was verified, they found the killing recorded on the camera," Sudhir Kumar, a resident of Indis VB City society, told TOI.
After the residents started to investigate who was involved in the offence, they identified Ashish, a tenant, after eight hours. On Thursday, Ashish's confession video given to the apartment residents went viral. Admitting the offence, Ashish said he killed them out of fear that dogs, in general, might target him. In fact, he has a pet dog at his house. It is suspected that he might have targeted street dogs in the past as well.
