New KTCL bus stand planned for Mundvel
Vasco: Plans are afoot to build a modern KTCL bus stand at Mundvel, Vasco, with construction expected to begin in the next two months.
A site inspection of the existing KTCL bus stand at Mundvel and of the open space that belonged to the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) has been conducted by local MLA Krishna Salkar and KTCL chairman Ulhas Tuenkar.
Salkar said a preliminary plan for the proposed bus stand is being prepared. “The proposal has received the support of chief minister Pramod Sawant and transport minister Mauvin Godinho,” Salkar said.
He said that the open space owned by the MMC near the Indian Oil Corporation terminus could be used to relocate the KTCL depot during the construction work of the new bus stand.
“A feasibility report will be given to the KTCL authorities to relocate the bus depot,” Salkar said. “The work on the new bus stand will begin after state govt considers all aspects of the project in consultation with the Union transport ministry.”
Tuenkar said, “The double-engine govt of BJP has fulfilled all its promises over the past three years in the state. The ambitious bus stand project with all amenities will be one of the major infrastructure projects in the state.”
He added that govt will also improve the standards of other bus stands in the state.
