FAZILKA/FEROZEPUR: In a joint operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) and the State Special Cell Police arrested an accused and recovered a Pakistan-made drone from his possession.
According to reports, the State Special Cell Police team of Fazilka and the BSF acted on secret information and arrested Joginder Singh, a resident of Gulab Wala Jhugga village in Fazilka. He was allegedly involved in ordering consignments of heroin and weapons from Pakistan via drones and supplying them to Indian smugglers. A few days ago, he had placed an order for such a consignment.
Sources claimed that a drone from Pakistan had entered Indian territory a few days ago but crashed due to a technical defect. Joginder Singh reportedly recovered and hid the drone. Acting swiftly, the police and BSF arrested him and recovered the drone from his possession. He will be produced in court, and further action, including remand, will be taken. Authorities are also investigating to track the consignment delivered through this drone.
Meanwhile, Ferozepur police achieved a major breakthrough in the state government's war on drugs by recovering 1.647 kg of heroin and arresting three smugglers on Wednesday. According to reports, inspector Abhinav Chauhan of Mamdot police station received secret information that Balwinder Singh, alias Kulwinder, a resident of Paujo Ke Uttar village, was engaged in heroin trafficking and had recently ordered a consignment from Pakistan using a drone.
Based on this information, the police raided the village and arrested Balwinder Singh, along with his two accomplices—Charanjit Singh, alias Channu, son of Desa Singh, both from Paujo Ke Uttar village, and Akashveer, alias Gagan, son of Pritam Singh, a resident of Booh Gujjar (Makhu police station). The police recovered 1.647 kg of heroin from their possession.
A case has been registered against the three under the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
