In Haryana’s Hisar, 5 generations under one roof: From great-great grandma to Canadian newborn

Hisar: A home in Gangwa village of Haryana's Hisar district became the centre of a rare sight — five generations of women coming under one roof.
This became possible on Monday, when the newest mother of the family, Canada resident Anupriya (28), came to her maternal grandmother's house to seek blessings for her four-month-old daughter, Jiya, born in Canada at 12.19am on Jan 1.
Keshar Devi (92) is Jiya's great-great grandmother, said a family member. The family member added Keshar and her daughter-in-law Subhani Devi (69), who is Jiya's great-grandmother, lived in the same house in Gangwa.
Subhani's daughter Roshni Devi (49), who is Jiya's grandmother, lives with her husband, Col Hari Singh, in Sector 9-11 of Hisar town. Anupriya said Jiya also held the distinction of being the first baby born in 2025 in the Waterloo region of Canada. "I am thankful to the almighty for being so kind to us," added Keshar.
