BENGALURU: Karnataka deputy chief minister
D K Shivakumar on Wednesday urged residents to take precautions amid continuous rains in the city. He assured that the government is prepared to address the issues arising from the weather conditions.
DK Shivakumar said, "I appeal to citizens to take necessary precautions in the wake of the rains. There might be some traffic issues today." He indicated plans to review the situation with relevant officials, including the police, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), and the fire department.
On Tuesday, heavy rain disrupted daily life in parts of Karnataka, including Bengaluru, leading to water-logging and traffic congestion. Some residents and opposition parties criticized the government’s handling of the situation.
Responding to the criticism, Shivakumar remarked, "You are spoiling your state's pride. Can anyone advise nature (and stop the rain)?" He added, "The government and the citizens have the strength to manage the situation. We will set things right, no issues, we will do it at the earliest."
Shivakumar emphasized that despite the cyclone and ongoing rains, the government is equipped to manage the situation effectively.
