AHMEDABAD: City police on Friday issued a notification instructing citizens not to turn up in "see-through" or "indecent attire" at garba venues. Issued by police commissioner G S Malik, the notification issued ahead of Navratri, however, did not specify what constitutes indecent clothing.
Besides regulating the dress code, the notification also included guidelines for event organisers.

Garba organisers were instructed to deploy volunteers for the safety and security of revellers and to ensure nobody turned up drunk at the venues.
Instructions for organizers

"Install door frame metal detectors, hand-held metal detectors and breath analysers at the entry points and deploy security staff. Immediately report any intoxicated or drunk individuals to the police. Include female security personnel," the notification stated. Garba organisers must obtain permission from the special branch at the city police commissioner's office and not local police stations, it added.
