Apurva Asrani expresses 'shock' and 'distress' after Delhi hospital uses his Bells Palsy picture without permission

Apurva Asrani, who penned the critically acclaimed drama 'Aligarh' has now taken to Twitter to express his displeasure over a Delhi hospital using his photograph without permission. The editor-screenwriter also said that the hospital had even given wrong information about his ailment. He said that while he had suffered from facial paralysis caused by Bells Palsy the hospital ‘wrongly claimed’ on the banner that his condition was caused by a stroke. His tweet reads as follows; 'Shocked to see Delhi Hospital, use my picture without my permission. This was an image taken in early 2018 when I was struck by facial paralysis caused from Bells Palsy. Also, Primus wrongly claims on this banner that my condition was caused by a stroke. Very distressing.' Celebrities like Saumya Tandon and Onir were among those who reacted. Calling it a ‘terribly shameful’ act, Saumya urged him to send a legal notice. The lattersaid such an act was ‘absolutely appalling' and 'unethical.’ In 2018, Asrani shared a Facebook post on his condition and shared a few photographs of himself during various stages of the illness. 'I woke up with the right side of my pace completely paralysed. Fearing a stroke, I was rushed to the hospital, and after an MRI ruled that out, my condition was diagnosed as Bell’s Palsy — where the facial nerve is inflamed, causing loss of muscle movement.' He added, 'What causes this is still a mystery, but they gather that it could be a viral infection. Stress is a major factor and god knows I had more than my share of that in 2017.' After rigorous physiotherapy his facial functions were restored to normal.
