Deepika about motherhood
In a conversation with Marie Claire, Deepika offered a rare insight into how her priorities are shifting and how she’s embracing this new chapter of life.
Reflecting on the balance between work and motherhood, she admitted that she’s still figuring things out. “I don’t know if [work] will be what it used to be before I had a baby, and I don’t even know if I want to be that way… is [this] my new routine and schedule? Let’s see how that evolves.”

Director's rare remark
She recalled an incident with a director who seemed unimpressed when she couldn’t commit to a meeting because she wanted to stay home with her child. “He turned around and said, ‘Oh, looks like she’s taking motherhood very seriously,’” she shared, adding, “I don’t know if that was a compliment or a jab. What does that mean, taking motherhood seriously?”
Deepika acknowledged that feelings of guilt often creep in when she has to step away from Dua, even for work. She also opened up about the physical toll her pregnancy and delivery took on her body. She added that she would always be grateful for her body and the transformation it went through.
