6 die in accident on way to Savadatti

Six pilgrims, including two children, were killed after their goods vehicle crashed into a roadside tree near Chinchanur village in Ramdurg taluk in the early hours of Thursday. The pilgrims were on their way to the Renuka Yallamma Temple in Savadatti to participate in one of the largest fairs held during the Hindu month of Banada Hunnime. Five people died on spot, and one died while being rushed to hospital. All the deceased are from the village of Hulkund in Ramdurg taluk. District Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has announced a Rs. 5 lakh compensation to the family of the deceased. The accident took place near the Vithalrukmini Temple in Chinchanur. The deceased are Hanumavva Shravan Myagadi, 25, Maruti Yallappa Bannur, 42, Indravva Fakirappa Siddametri, 24, deepa shankar Harijan, 31, Savita Laxman Mundas, 17, and Supriya Shankar Harijan, 11.
