Airtel to buy 400 MHz spectrum in 26 GHz band from Adani Data Networks

Bharti Airtel has announced a major spectrum acquisition, securing 400 MHz in the 26 GHz band from Adani Data Networks Limited (ADNL). The deal covers six key telecom circles—Gujarat, Mumbai, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu—strengthening Airtel’s push for ultra-fast 5G connectivity across India.
The spectrum purchase enhances Airtel’s ability to deliver high-speed 5G services, ensuring better network coverage, improved capacity, and lower latency for its customers. With 100 MHz each in Gujarat and Mumbai, alongside 50 MHz allocations in Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, Airtel aims to reinforce its position in the next-generation telecom space.
The deal, structured under India’s Spectrum Trading Guidelines, remains subject to standard regulatory approvals before final implementation. Once cleared, Airtel is likely to utilise the high-frequency 26 GHz band to optimise enterprise solutions, consumer broadband, and industrial applications.
The move underscores Airtel’s commitment to scaling its 5G infrastructure, ensuring enhanced connectivity across metros and Tier-2 cities.
