Brad Marchand, the former captain of the Boston Bruins who got traded to the Florida Panthers in February, has kept his hopes high despite the devastating loss against the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 2 on Wednesday night. While he spoke about the changes he has witnessed in the Toronto Maple Leafs during this playoff series, it seems like his words have sparked confusion among fans.
Brad Marchand spoke about the Toronto Maple Leafs’ performance but it has sparked chaos among fans
Recently, Sportsnet posted a video on X where Brad Marchand is addressing the Florida Panthers’ loss to the media as he spoke about the change in the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Brad Marchand said, “They (Toronto Maple Leafs) brought a lot of good pieces in at the deadline and the off-season to kind of adjust their back end. They're heavy back there. Obviously, their coaching has changed, and their structure is very good right now, especially in the D zone. They don't give up a whole lot around the net.”
He added, “So, we knew it was going to be a really tough battle…They're playing really well, and obviously their top guys are capitalizing on every opportunity.”
But it seems like Brad Marchand’s words have sparked confusion among his fans. While some fans feel he wants to join the Toronto Maple Leafs in the next season, others feel this is a part of his strategy.
A fan commented, “He knows exactly what he is doing. Stroking the ego to dull the killer instinct. Chess not checkers with this guy—step on their f**king throats”, while another fan posted, “Sly dog, he's messing with them, trying to make them all satisfied and comfy.”
However, another fan feel Brad Marchand wants to join the opposing team. A fan commented, “He wants to be leaf next season so bad”, while another user wrote, “lol he’s forsure gonna be a leaf come September.”
While Brad Marchand has not addressed the speculations yet, fans are in disbelief at the Florida Panthers’ performance.
A fan took to X and posted, “I thought Florida would dominate and I’m shocked. It seems like really preventable mistakes. Giving up tons of odd man rushes, bad changes, and preventable penalties. Seems like Kulikov is constantly in the box.”
Another fan commented, “Man. Imagine being the Florida Panthers right now, the Leafs take the lead again 17 seconds after the Panthers tie the game. THATS the definition of "deflating".”
Game 3 between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Florida Panthers is all set to be held on Friday night.
