Tom Brady wants the Raiders to gamble big: Jalen Milroe’s speed and Ashton Jeanty’s power could reshape Las Vegas' future

Tom Brady, now a Raiders minority owner, is reportedly eyeing Alabama's Jalen Milroe, a quarterback with Lamar Jackson-level speed, for the team's future. Alongside Milroe, Boise State's electrifying running back Ashton Jeanty is also gaining traction in Vegas. These potential picks signal a shift towards prioritizing raw athleticism and high-octane potential under Brady's influence.

With the 2025 NFL Draft knocking at the door, the Las Vegas Raiders find themselves at a pivotal crossroads—and Tom Brady seems ready to deal the cards. Now a minority owner of the team, Brady is reportedly interested in a quarterback not just fast—but faster than Lamar Jackson. That quarterback? Alabama’s Jalen Milroe.

According to Cleveland Browns GM Andrew Berry, Jalen Milroe might be “the only quarterback when he gets in the NFL, who’s faster than Lamar.” That’s not an exaggeration. His explosive 2024 performance against LSU—where he ran for 185 yards and four touchdowns—showcased his blazing speed and rushing prowess.
While Milroe isn’t yet a polished pocket passer, insiders like Jordan Schultz note, “What he already does well is special, and that could alone push him higher than expected.” For the Raiders, who just signed veteran Geno Smith to a $75 million deal, Milroe would be a project—not a day-one starter. And Brady seems to like it that way.

Smith himself has said he’s eager to “soak up all knowledge” from Brady, forming a veteran QB room that could be the perfect breeding ground for Milroe to refine his skills and develop without immediate pressure.

Ashton Jeanty could be the final piece to Tom Brady’s offensive reboot

While the quarterback speculation builds, another name is gaining serious traction in Vegas: Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty. With a jaw-dropping 2,601 rushing yards in 2024, Jeanty has emerged as arguably the most electrifying running back prospect in this year’s class.
The Raiders haven't drafted a running back since Josh Jacobs in 2019, but with their ground game faltering and offensive line in flux, Jeanty could be the fix. Even team exec John Spytek’s own son threatened to “walk out of the family” if the Raiders don’t pick Jeanty at No. 6—a sentiment that reflects the buzz around this prospect.

Brady’s influence is already reshaping the Raiders’ draft strategy. If the team rolls the dice on Milroe’s raw athleticism and Jeanty’s dominance on the ground, they could build a high-octane offense with long-term upside. The big question now is: will Tom Brady convince Vegas to bet on upside, speed, and potential over safe picks?
