Lewis Hamilton made headlines when he went on to replace the Spanish racing star Carlos Sainz from Ferrari. With a flamboyant approach on the track and crazy fan following across the globe, the British motorsport icon hardly has any haters. Ex Ferrari driver Nigel Mansell makes a bold prediction about Lewis Hamilton
After the testing event in Bahrain, Lewis Hamilton fans cannot wait to witness his aura in the red Ferrari jersey for the upcoming Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne. Hamilton joined hands with the Ferrari and replaced Williams’ driver, Carlos Sainz. Recently, former Ferrari driver Nigel Mansell spoke about the racing legend and even made a bold claim about him. According to Mansell, Hamilton is about to have a great season with Ferrari.
During a recent interview with Sky Sports, Nigel Mansell opened on the partnership between Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari for the upcoming season. The 71-year-old former British driver said:
“I think it’s absolutely brilliant, I have to say. I think he’s got most of the fans behind him. I’m certainly behind him. I think he can do it. It’s so exciting for him and Ferrari. I think it will be the most amazing year to watch, and [we] have the excitement before us.”Whereas it is not only Mansell, who is quite excited with Lewis Hamilton’s new journey with Ferrari, former Ferrari driver Jean Alesi even had similar thoughts about the Formula 1 icon. Alesi said-
“I know many people in Ferrari… he impressed everybody. He impressed everybody [with] his presence and the way he presents himself to the team. It was really a cultural shock for Ferrari to have such a champion. Without taking anything [away from] Charles and Carlos, so far he impressed everybody.”Lewis Hamilton drew curtains on his decade-long stint with Mercedes and joined hands with Ferrari along with Charles Leclerc. Hamilton was spotted on the tracks of Fiorano while testing the Ferrari machinery for the first time after his collaboration with the motorsport giant. Recently, the twenty drivers of the Formula 1 were busy during the pre-season testing at Bahrain.
Outings in older Ferrari machinery soon followed, before Hamilton got his first taste of the squad’s new challenger in a private run at Fiorano and at last week’s official pre-season test in Bahrain. The entire grid would be back on the race track in Melbourne during the 2025 season opening at the Australian Grand Prix from March 14 to 16, 2025.
