Lancashire cricketer Tom Bailey was caught on camera dropping his mobile phone while batting during a County Championship match against Gloucestershire at Old Trafford. The incident occurred when Bailey, batting at No. 10 with the team score over 400, was attempting his first runs off Josh Shaw in the 114th over of Lancashire's innings.
The 34-year-old seamer, who is approaching 400 wickets in his First-Class career, had the phone fall out of his pocket while completing a second run after playing a flick towards fine-leg. The incident was captured on video and has since gone viral on social media.

The commentators immediately noticed the unusual occurrence during the live broadcast. "Something has dropped out of his pocket. I think it's his mobile phone!" one commentator observed, with another responding, "No way!"

One of the commentators further added: "As much as it is hilarious and we are laughing about it, I almost wonder if that's going to have to be reported. The fact that he was out in the middle .. (chuckles) with a mobile phone in his pocket (more laughs)."
Bailey went on to score an unbeaten 22 off 31 balls, helping Lancashire reach 450 on day two of the match. The bowler Shaw was seen picking up the phone, though it remains unclear whether it was handed over to the umpire.
The incident sparked various reactions on social media, with former England seamer Alex Tudor responding with a facepalm emoji on the video shared by 'No Context County Cricket' on X (formerly Twitter).

The King Langley Cricket Club made a subtle reference by tagging That's So Village, an account known for sharing unusual moments from village cricket.

Cleadon Cricket Club made a humorous comment: "He must run their social media accounts because admin has nearly walked out with phone in pocket a few times."

The incident drew parallels to a similar occurrence in 2016 when former England batsman Ravi Bopara tweeted: "I can't believe I just batted with my mobile phone in my left pocket accidentally."

Bopara's former teammate Owais Shah responded to that 2016 tweet with some banter: "Let's be honest mate... Does it REALLY surprise you!?? What do you reckon," while tagging ECB managing director Rob Key and adding, "I'm surprised Ravi remembers his bat."
