Malayalam actor-producer Vijay Babu, who was arrested on Monday (June 27) in the alleged
rape of a newbie actress, was left on bail, as he had secured an anticipatory bail from the Kerala High Court on June 22. Following the bail,
Vijay Babu took to his social media handle and posted a note with a picture. The picture reads, “Silence is the best answer.” In the note, Vijay Babu also stated that he won’t be provoked, irrespective of what happens, and also shared that he will keep mum, and not talk to the media, as directed by the court.
Vijay Babu also went on to add that in the end truth will prevail.
“Won’t get provoked irrespective of whatever happens . Won’t talk to media as directed by the honourable court irrespective of any provocation by the media . 100 percent Cooperating with the investigation . At the end truth will prevail . God bless . (sic),” Vijay Babu said in his social media post.
Earlier, while granting anticipatory bail, the High Court had permitted the police to interrogate Vijay Babu from June 27 to July 3, from 9 am to 5 pm. The court had released Vijay Babu on a bail bond of Rs 5 lakh, along with the two solvent sureties. He was also directed to not involve in any form of attack against the actress or her family via social media or any other mode, and along with that, he is asked to not leave the state without permission of the jurisdictional court.
On Monday (June 27), Kochi Deputy City Police Commissioner UV Kuriakose confirmed that the arrest was recorded. Meanwhile, the police will be reportedly taking Vijay Babu to various places in Kochi, where the alleged rape had taken place, as part of evidence collection.
It was on April 22, a newbie Malayalam actress filed a complaint against actor-producer Vijay Babu in Ernakulam, alleging that she was raped and physically violated by him. Following the complaint, Vijay Babu went live on his Facebook handle, disclosed the identity of the complainant, and claimed that he was the ‘real victim’. Later Vijay Babu fled the country, jetted off to the UAE, and then to Georgia, and returned to Kerala on June 1.
