At a time when extravagant events organised in five-star hotels have become the norm for audio launches of Mwood movies, director M A Nishad chose the Poojappura Central Jail for the audio launch of his new flick, No.66 Madurai Bus. The crowd in attendance were none other than the prison inmates. The presence of Kollywood actor
Pasupathy and actress
Mallika at the do made it all the more special for the inmates.
I dedicate the movie to all the inmates families, who might be facing more isolation from society for no fault of theirs, Pasupathy said. He also quipped that every time hes worked with Nishad, hes ended up visiting the jail.
Incidentally, my last flick with Nishad, Vairam, had its climax scene shot in Viyyur Prison in Thrissur, where the same superintendent was in charge, he said.
Director Nishad said, The road movie revolves around the life of a convict, whos got three days of freedom before returning to jail. But the bigger message is about the isolation that prisoners families face from our society.
The audio launch function, aptly titled
Music of Freedom, also saw Pasupathy and Mallika giving away audio CDs to two handpicked inmates, in addition to donating a new record player to the prison.
