Kantara to be dubbed in Tulu

Ever since its release two weeks ago, the demand for Kantara’s Tulu version has been rather high. “And more so because the content is rooted in Dakshina Kannada’s culture and art. The daiva worshipping rituals and Bhootha Kola is steeped in Tulunadu’s ethos and much of the proceedings happen in the native language Tulu. Hence people felt that if the film were to be dubbed in Tulu it would be an ideal representation of this land,” shares Shanil Guru, who played Bulla in the film.
Shanil is currently in Mangaluru overseeing the Tulu dubbing process. “We began three days ago and hope to finish soon. Since the film has a majority of local artistes, they will all be dubbing for themselves. This includes Prakash Thuminad, Deepak Rai Panaje, Naveen D Padil, Mime Ramdas, Raghu Pandeshwar, Pushparaj Bolar and myself amongst others. Arjun Kapikad will be dubbing for Rishab Shetty. Prarthana has dubbed for Sapthami Gowda,” Shanil tells us, adding that the nativity of the film and Tulu will go hand in hand.
