Director Ananth Narayan Mahadevan’s Gour Hari Dastaan: The Freedom File
captures Gour Hari Das’ energy and turns it into a cinematic experience. A UK-based publication called it ‘an extraordinary story and a socially relevant triumph’. This freedom fighter spent 32 years fighting a silent war against the Indian government that refused to acknowledge his heroics, till the Parliament was forced to take up the issue.

This feature film marks the Hindi debut of Bindiya Khanolkar and Sachin Khanolkar, who have previously produced the Marathi film, Mee Sindhutai Sapkal that won four National Awards.
Oscar-winner Resul Pookutty, Emmy Award-winning cameraman Alphonse Roy, nine-time National Award-winning editor Sreekar Prasad, Grammy-nominated violin maestro Dr L Subramaniam and National Award-winning director Mahadevan backed up a strong cast of 35 well known actors led by
Vinay Pathak, who was awarded the Best Actor trophy in Paris at the Extravagant India Film Festival for this biopic. Konkona Sensharma, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Ranvir Shorey, Rajit Kapur, Vikram Gokhale, Siddharth Jadhav and Vipin Sharma excel in parallel roles.
Among the last of the living freedom fighters in India, Gour Hari Das’ personal war is a lesson for every young man today who is on the verge of charting the country’s future. Ananth says, “This could well be a life-changing experience for them too.”
