Matt Reeves' The Batman (2022) was a box office hit, sparking excitement for its sequel. Originally set for an October 2025 release, The Batman Part II is now delayed until 2027. Robert Pattinson, who stars as Batman, humorously remarked that by then, he might be playing an 'old Batman.'
Pattinson, who was 35 when the first film came out, will be 41 if the sequel releases in 2027. Reports say production could start in late 2025, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
In a recent interview with Hero Magazine, Robert Pattinson humorously commented on the age gap between the first Batman movie and its sequel. He mentioned that while he’s now 38 and feeling older, he’s also in better health and believes his physical condition has improved over time.
The delay is not only frustrating for Robert Pattinson but is also affecting DC's broader plans. Despite the uncertainty, the actor is dedicated to staying fit for his role. He humorously mentioned that his strict diet of salmon and avocado has helped with his memory. To stay focused, he’s been avoiding social events and maintaining a disciplined work routine, especially given the intense memorization required for his recent roles.
Warner Bros has postponed The Batman 2 several times since its announcement at CinemaCon in April 2022. Initially set for a 2025 release, it was first pushed to 2026 and now to 2027. Director Matt Reeves thanked the audience for the success of the first film and expressed excitement for the sequel. He also promised more details at a future CinemaCon, but no updates have been shared yet.
Although fans will have to wait for Robert Pattinson's return as Batman, he will soon star in Mickey 17, releasing on March 7, 2025. Directed by Bong Joon-ho, the film is based on Edward Ashton's 2022 novel Mickey 7. It marks Bong's first film since Parasite, which won Best Picture at the 2020 Oscars.
