Apple has released its iOS 18.4 beta 2, introducing seven unique emoji characters that will soon be available to iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Vision Pro, and Apple Watch users. The new emoji lineup includes a range of quirky and practical additions that reflect the ongoing evolution of digital communication.
The standout emoji is undoubtedly the "face with bags under eyes," capturing the universal experience of exhaustion. Alongside this relatable character, users will find six additional emoji: a fingerprint, a leafless tree, a root vegetable, a harp, a shovel, and a splatter.
These emoji are part of the Unicode 16 standard, initially previewed in May 2024 and now refined by Apple's design team. While the collection might seem modest, it continues the Unicode Consortium's ongoing efforts to expand digital expression.
Notably, these new emoji will only be visible to users running iOS 18.4 or later. Those on earlier versions will see a blank icon when receiving messages containing the new characters. The update is expected to be publicly released in April, alongside expanded Apple Intelligence language support and other feature enhancements.
For those who want even more emojis, Apple's new Genmoji feature allows iPhone 15 Pro and newer users to generate custom emoji through AI, offering virtually limitless creative possibilities beyond the standard emoji set.
